Over 100 climate innovators, investors, and carbon market industry leaders from Vietnam took part in an investment networking event designed to build a greener, more sustainable future, hosted by the Australian government in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.

A slew of nature-based carbon projects such as the Upland agroforestry for incomes and carbon sequestration project, the Biochar for carbon removal and improved livelihoods project, and the Scaling climate resilient mangrove shrimp farming in the Mekong Delta project captured the interest from many investors at the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) Climate Investment Networking Day.

“Today’s event is designed to strengthen the local climate innovation ecosystem and enable new collaborative opportunities that will unlock innovation in Vietnam’s emerging carbon markets and its green growth agenda,” said Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event offered participants valuable insights into Vietnam's carbon market regulations and strategies to boost investment in this emerging sector.

Through the BPP, the Australian government has invested AUD9.5 million (US$6.3 million) since 2016 to support 16 private sector initiatives that are working to tackle climate change, grow sustainable carbon markets, and create better outcomes for the Vietnamese community, particularly women and people with disabilities.
