Chairman of Da Nang City in central Vietnam Le Trung Chinh approved on Tuesday a plan for students in all grades to begin resuming offline study between February 14 and 21.
The back-to-school dates are fixed on February 14 for sixth graders and February 21 for elementary students and kindergarteners.
However, the reopening of elementary schools and kindergartns must be subject to approval from parents, chairman Chinh emphasized.
Besides, the boarding school model will remain suspended.
Authorities in Da Nang had required all students to stay home and switch to remote learning since May 4, 2021 due to a serious COVID-19 outbreak.
Students in seventh grade came back to school from Monday while their eighth to 12th seniors had returned to physical classes at the end of 2021.
Meanwhile, first graders in the city had returned to in-person classes on December 6, 2021 after a seven-month hiatus.
However, their offline learning lasted for only a week as parents were worried about complicated COVID-19 developments in Da Nang.
The central coastal city has logged over 39,100 cases since the fourth virus wave hit Vietnam on April 27, 2021.
More than 961,800 of its nearly 1.2 million people have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot, with more than 911,400 of them being jabbed twice, according to the national COVID-19 vaccination portal.
