A country draped in the vibrant tapestry of nature, steeped in the wisdom of ages, and alive with a chorus of cultures, Vietnam enchants storytellers from across the globe who like to capture its essence and share its magic with their audiences.

'A country that holds irresistible charm'

For the past months, Shevelle and Devan have broadcast their journey throughout northern Vietnam to followers on their YouTube channel Shev and Dev.

“A country that holds irresistible charm, the world's friendliest people, and absolutely mouth-watering cuisine, and a country that I probably think is the easiest to live in,” Shevelle explained in the pair’s February video titled 'This is WHY we love Vietnam! First day back in Hanoi.'

In the video, which has so far reached 97,000 views, Shevelle and Devan discussed their first trip to the Southeast Asian country over a year ago.

During that trip, the South African couple joined a bike food tour in Ho Chi Minh City, took a 20-hour train from Da Nang to Hanoi, and traveled by boat through Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province.

This year, they returned in excitement.

“Why do you love it so much? What’s the big deal? Well, have you tried pho? Have you tried the egg coffee?” Shevelle said while wandering through Hanoi’s Old Quarter.

During their time in Hanoi, the couple also took a 'xich lo' (cycle rickshaw) trip around the Old Quarter.

Devan even asked the driver to let him ride the vehicle for a bit.

In his video, Devan dives into the heart of Hanoi, highlighting the city's unique charm: the organized chaos of its bustling streets.

The video struck a chord with viewers, sparking a wave of comments sharing their own experiences of Hanoi.

“We miss Hanoi so much!” one commented. “We lived there for a full year, and it's one of our favorite cities in the world. Great food, great people. We can't wait to go back next year.”

The couple shared that during their trip, they are “gonna see and do probably a bucket-list crazy adventure” they have always wanted to try.

Other Vietnam-based videos on their channel include a cruise on Ha Long Bay, trekking through the green terraced fields of Sa Pa in the north, visiting relics and landscapes in Ninh Binh Province in the central part, and riding a motorbike in Ha Giang Province in the northern region.

Food retreats in central Vietnam

Meanwhile, the Malaysian couple behind the YouTube channel Puri and Sue have had more than 21,000 people watch the video of their 5-day, 4-night dining journey in Da Nang and Hoi An, both on the central coast of Vietnam.

The video, entitled '15 Vietnamese Street Food in Hoi An and Da Nang, Vietnam | What to Eat in Hoi An and Da Nang in 5D4N,' was posted in December last year.

“Hoi An and Da Nang are two popular travel destinations located in central Vietnam,” they wrote in the video's description.

“One of the highlights of our trip was immersing ourselves in the local cuisines and trying out some of the best eats these cities had to offer.”

Puri and Sue’s 25-minute video meticulously captured the delicious dishes the couple sampled in each of the two cities, including cao lau noodles, chicken rice, and banh mi in Hoi An, alongside Quang noodles and pork rolls in Da Nang.

Interspersed with the meals were highlights of the places they visited and activities they tried, including a basket boat ride in Hoi An, drinking a cup of coffee on a rooftop café, checking out Hoi An Ancient Town from above, watching the famous Dragon Bridge fire show in Da Nang, and visiting Ba Na Hills in the same city.

“Thank you guys! Very informative, simple and humble, dynamic and pleasant video to watch. I will be moving to Da Nang in 10 days and you gave me some great insight. Keep the good vibe, well done!” one viewer commented on the video.

“My mouth was watering with every dish. Our next holiday is in May, Da Nang! Thank you, really good video,” another added.

Exploring the delta life

The family of Kasper, Kylie, and Ella Johansen narrated their trip to the Mekong Delta in a video posted to their YouTube channel Living the Jo Life in June last year.

In the video 'We Explored the MEKONG RIVER Delta - VIETNAM,' which has garnered more than 68,000 views, the family took a day tour to the Mekong Delta where they cycled through beautiful coconut and banana groves, taking a boat ride through small canals, sitting on a horse wagon, drinking fresh coconut water, watching locals making candies from coconut, and enjoying local delicacies at a restaurant.

They also visited a local market where they tried 'strange' fruits like jackfruits, rambutans, and star apples.

“We had such an amazing time in the Mekong Delta here today," they concluded.
