Ho Chi Minh City’s American Center celebrates 2nd anniversary

The American Center has officially launched a membership card and book loan program, as well as announced its library expansion plan, on the occasion of its 2nd anniversary.

Over two years of operations, the center has organized more than 300 events and welcomed over 70,000 guests. Besides establishing various English speaking clubs and culture exchange programs, the American Center has also provided guests including students, lecturers and businesspeople with more than 100 accounts to access the online e-library known as eLibraryUSA.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rena Bitter, US Consul General, said the development of the center is an indicator of the strength of the relationship between the United States and Vietnam, which is based on friendship, mutual respect and cooperation.

On the occasion of the second anniversary, the center announced a library expansion project which will offer more reference materials, computer terminals and areas for people to work. It is also launching a book loan program and membership card service.

The US consulate’s American Center was established on September 28th, 2011. It has more than 2,000 books, 50 magazines and over 600 documentary and entertainment DVDs. The center welcomes various guests including students, entrepreneurs, lecturers and professionals.
