Pham Huong, Vietnam's representative at this year's Miss Universe beauty pageant, has revealed the two traditional long gowns, called “ao dai," that she will wear in competition.
Both costumes, one black and one white, accurately reflect Vietnamese culture and feature traditional images of the country including cranes and bamboos.
Thuan Viet, the designer who created the costumes, said that every detail of the “ao dai,” including thousands of encrusted sapphires on the collar and sleeves, are handmade by professional artists.
“The 'ao dai' is a traditional costume of Vietnam, a symbol of the elegance, beauty and charm of Vietnamese women. The image of the ‘ao dai’ has long appeared in artworks and literary writings,” Huong said.
The beauty sent her thanks to the people who have spent time creating her sophisticated costumes.
Huong will choose one of them for the National Costume category of the show on December 16.
The final results will be announced at the competition finale which will take place at 8:00 pm on December 20 at Planet Hollywood Theater in Las Vegas.
Miss Universe 2015 has attracted over 80 contestants from countries around the world, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, India, Australia, France, Singapore, and Canada.
The winner will be responsible for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS through numerous worldwide humanitarian activities.
