A former AFP reporter has recently introduced his photos capturing Hanoi in the 1980s.
The pictures, taken by former French journalist Michel Blanchard, have been displayed at the French Institute in the Vietnamese capital (L'Espace).
The exhibition opened at 5:30 pm on Friday with a workshop on Blanchard’s memories during his time in Vietnam.
The display will last until April 30, with admission granted free of charge.
The ex-AFP reporter’s photos depict Hanoians’ lifestyle between 1981 and 1983, offering an overview of how Vietnamese people were 30 years ago.
In 1981, Blanchard became the only Western correspondent in Vietnam at the age of 23.
Serving as head of AFP’s office in Hanoi during this time, the Frenchman had the chance to observe, live the life of local people, and travel across the country to capture the most unforgettable moments with his camera.
