The photo contest, held by the Department of Culture and Sports in Hanoi and the Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi)newspaper and having its winners announced on Tuesday, aimed to promote a code of conduct for public servants and citizens living in Hanoi.

According to the organizers, the contest received 1,000 entries including solo photos and photo sets from more than 90 journalists, public servants and students after launching five months ago.

The entries focused on good and bad behavior of both the ordinary people and public servants.

A pictured named “Civilized – Polite” taken by Tran Hai at the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee office won the first prize in the solo category.

Seventy of the best photos from the contest have also been chosen to be part of an upcoming exhibition in the Guom Lake pedestrian area.

“The entries reflect the beauty of the city’s public servants’ behavior in public places as well as in their working environment,” Nguyen Hoang Long, editor-in-chief of Ha Noi Moi stated.

“We also have critical photos which show poor behavior, which can help to adjust people’s manners to create a civilized, elegant and modern Hanoi,” he added.
