As it is only hours before the doors finally close on 2018, together with many other big cities around the world, the two major metropolises in Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will organize countdown events to ring in the New Year.

For those who choose to welcome 2019 in the Vietnamese capital city, do not miss out on the “Countdown 2019 – Light Dance,” where fun and excitement await party-goers.

The dazzling New Year countdown party will be held at the Ly Thai To Square near Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake from 10:00 pm on December 31 to 0:15 am on January 1, 2019 and will be broadcast live on national channel VTV1.

A rock festival will take place before the countdown party, with the presence of famous Vietnamese artists, Top 5 Miss Universe 2018 finalist H’Hen Nie, and members of the national football team, winners of the 2018 Asean Football Federation Championship.

The event promises non-stop entertainment, culminating in a fireworks extravaganza overlooking the Hoan Kiem Lake on New Year’s Eve.

In the meantime, thousands of people in Ho Chi Minh City are expected to participate in “Lights 2019," the New Year countdown party slated to take place at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street from 8:00 pm on December 31 until midnight.

Following the success of the 2018 edition, the program this year will throw one of the country’s biggest New Year parties to say goodbye to 2018 and to welcome 2019.

Performances including indie and hip hop music will be staged by rising Vietnamese talents of these genres, which are expected to remain trendy in 2019 following last year’s dominance.

Besides indie and hip hop artists, the show will feature well-known local DJs, dancers, bands and singers, who are adored by fans all over the nation.
