The sixth Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) Festival in Ho Chi Minh City is slated to begin tonight, March 2, with a number of activities set to run in various tourist spots of the southern metropolis through March 17.

The annual culture-tourism festival aims to honor Vietnam’s traditional costume and promote Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism to domestic and foreign visitors, Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, deputy director of the municipal tourism department said at a press conference on February 26.

This year, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie, who sealed a historic top five place of Miss Universe 2018, is the representative of the festival.

The event draws the participation of 26 leading ao dai designers across the nation.

A highlight of the festival is the showcasing of a collection by a designer from South Korea, introducing Vietnam’s ao dai from the perspective of international friends.

A procession will be held the next day with the participation of over 3,000 performers, including those from the audience.
