Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang has urged local businesses to boost their investment in Bangladesh, thus creating a new momentum for stronger ties between the two countries.
The Vietnamese head of state attended the Vietnam-Bangladesh Business Forum in Dhaka on Tuesday, as part of his state visit to the South Asian country from March 4 to 6, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Speaking at the event, President Quang expressed his joy at the progress of the bilateral relationship, affirming that visits by senior officials of the two nations have helped create new impulses for their relations.
Cooperation mechanisms have been forming across fields, especially trade and investment, he stressed.
Vietnam always attaches importance to boosting the traditional relationship and cooperation with Bangladesh, and is willing to share its experience in various fields, the leader continued.
He encouraged Vietnamese businesses to expand their investment in Bangladesh, in such areas as telecoms, information technology, agriculture, food processing, oil and gas, infrastructure development, and services.
The economies of Vietnam and Bangladesh share many similarities, which is an important condition for their businesses to increase investment ties.
Quang asked Bangladeshi authorities to provide further support and favorable conditions for Vietnamese firms to access Bangladesh’s market.
Bangladeshi enterprises are also welcomed to invest in Vietnam, he noted, expressing his belief that the two nations’ bilateral trade will surpass $1 billion this year and top $2 billion in 2020.
Vietnam will provide the best possible conditions for the businesses in both countries to cooperate in an effective and long-term manner for the sake of each nation’s sustainable development, the leader said.
Later on the same day, President Quang, the First Lady, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation attended the opening ceremony of a Vietnam Culture Days event in Bangladesh, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties (1973-2018).
The Vietnamese president left Dhaka in the evening, concluding his three-day trip to the country.
