Delegates attend preparatory session of Vietnam’s 13th National Party Congress in Hanoi

Delegates attend preparatory session of Vietnam’s 13th National Party Congress in Hanoi

A total of 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members across Vietnam attended the preparatory session of the 13th National Party Congress at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on Monday morning.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan were among the attendees.

Delegates are set to adopt working regulations of the Congress during the session.

They will also elect the Presidium, secretarial delegation, and delegate eligibility verification board of the Congress.

The Congress’ agenda, election rules, and a report on the eligibility of delegates are expected to be approved during the preparatory session.

The 13th National Party Congress will officially open on the morning of January 26 and last until February 2.

Prior to the preparatory session, the country’s leaders and high-ranking officials had paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Fallen Soldiers in the capital.
