Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris has commenced her official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
The U.S. official arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Tuesday evening following a three-hour delay.
Vice President Harris had wrapped up a trip to Singapore prior to her arrival.
This is the first official visit to Vietnam paid by a sitting U.S. vice president. The Southeast Asian country previously welcomed U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin last month.
Vice President Harris is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese leaders on Wednesday.
