Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s spouse Ho Ching expressed her admiration for handicapped artisans at Vun (Rag) Art Cooperative in Van Phuc Silk Village, Hanoi while visiting the place on Monday afternoon, emphasizing that these artisans are contributing to saving the earth.

She was surprised by the beauty of collages made of silk rag at the cooperative.

Within the framework of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee’s three-day Vietnam visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s spouse Le Thi Bich Tran took the spouse of the top Singaporean official to the Vun Art Cooperative to enjoy the stunning artworks of Vun Art.

Vun Art is a cooperative economic model, founded in 2017 by Le Viet Cuong, a disabled man.

The Vun Art Cooperative was set up to introduce the beauty of Vun Art and traditional culture, create jobs for the disabled, and utilize scraps to make useful items to protect the environment.

Apart from visiting the production facility of the cooperative, the two spouses of the top Vietnamese and Singaporean officials were introduced to some underway collages of late President Ho Chi Minh.

The two were impressed by the artisans’ determination and meticulousness.

The artisans at the Vun Art Cooperative jointly created a picture inspired by the Pham Le Tran Chinh orchid.

Singapore's new species of hybrid orchid, named after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, Le Thi Bich Tran, was presented to the couple at a naming ceremony held at the National Orchids Garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, one day after PM Chinh and his spouse arrived in the city-state for a three-day official visit in February.

The two spouses expected the Vun Art model to further expand its reach to help more disabled people and advance business sustainability.

Moreover, the two respected these artisans for their strong will to create such spectacular artworks that show their significant contributions to society.
