Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam participated in a tea party following their talks in Beijing on Monday, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The party was part of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s ongoing state visit to the northern neighbor, taking place from Sunday to Tuesday at the invitation of the Chinese Party general secretary.
During the tea event, the two leaders discussed the tea culture of their countries.
Tea parties are a special form of dialogue during visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries, demonstrating the appreciation of their relations.
At the tea party, Lam and Xi reviewed the friendship history of the two countries’ Parties and states and assessed mutual perceptions reached during their talks.
They also emphasized the importance of the further development of their countries’ bilateral relations.

Before the tea party, the two leaders witnessed the signing of 14 cooperation documents between ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries on farm produce export, television and broadcasting, healthcare, media, infrastructure, trade, industry, and banking.
Lam is paying his first official visit to China since assuming his posts as Vietnamese state president in May and Party leader earlier this month.
Lam, along with his spouse and entourage, arrived in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China on Sunday before traveling to Beijing later that evening.
On Monday, Xi chaired a grand welcome ceremony in Beijing at the highest level for the Vietnamese leader.
Lam later met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo said in Beijing on Monday.
