PM Chinh had a meeting with Kudryashov Sergei Ivanovich, general director of Russian oil and gas company Zarubezhneft, which has been cooperating with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group for over four decades, on the same day.

The Vietnamese leader hoped that Zarubezhneft and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group would promote cooperation in new fields, including tourism, green energy, clean energy, construction, and the development of infrastructure serving oil and gas cooperation.

Ivanovich said obstacles to the two sides’ cooperation had been cleared following his meeting with PM Chinh in Hanoi in April this year.

He pledged to collaborate closely with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to realize PM Chinh’s recommendations.

Chinh and a high-ranking delegation participated in the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan City of Russia on Wednesday and Thursday at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, chair of BRICS 2024.

The trip marked the first time that PM Chinh had visited Russia since he took office and also the first time that Vietnam had partaken this annual event at the head-of-government level.

PM Chinh attended the summit as a guest.

The expanded BRICS Summit is an important occasion in the framework of the cooperation between BRICS and developing countries.

The BRICS group was initially formed by Brazil, Russia, India, and China in 2006, with South Africa joining in 2010.

Early this year, BRICS was expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates while maintaining its original name.
