Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 18:28 GMT+7

A center which adopts a US$3 million robot in endoscopic surgeries, the first of its kind in Vietnam, will be inaugurated at the Central Pediatrics Hospital on Feb 27.

According to the hospital, the robot with highly flexible arms, which can rotate 360 degrees, can maneuver at inaccessible positions with unrivalled precision compared to conventional surgeries with endoscopic tubes.

The use of robot also allows surgeons a comprehensive preview of the surgery procedures, thus enhancing its efficiency.

Some hospitals planned to adopt endoscopic robot surgeries before, but finally couldn’t go ahead.

Robots can be used effectively in various kinds of endoscopic surgeries, including gastric, obstetric ones, and treatment of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Endoscopic surgeries have several advantages over open ones, including minimizing scars, hospitalization stay and recovering time.
