A restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City was found illegally functioning as a karaoke parlor, and five of its female attendants tested positive for drugs in a late night police raid on Friday.

Police in District 5 inspected the Huong Xua 1 on Tran Hung Dao Street and caught four guests and three female attendants drinking and singing in a private room.

The facility director, 31-year-old Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, does not have a license to offer karaoke service at the restaurant, according to officers.

There are a total of 41 attendants, with only two male employees, at the restaurant, and five women tested positive for drugs, police said.

Ten of the employees do not have identification papers, and 20 of them did not have a labor contract with the owner.

Police seized a karaoke system and transferred the female employees with the drug positive results, as well as those without papers and work contracts, to the anti-drug police department.
