Hundreds of tombs have been mysteriously hammered up with large iron nails in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue.
The curiosity was reported by multiple residents of Loc Thuy Commune, Phu Loc District in the province, who told authorities that several iron nails had been found hammered near or into the tombs of their loved ones.
The strange incident was first discovered by local resident Tran Ba Ngoc, who said he was paying a visit to a local cemetery when he found several iron nails, each 10 centimeters in length, hammered into the ground near the tombs of his family members.
Similar nails were also found on nearby tombs, Ngoc said.
“Each tomb had between one and 12 nails hammered into the ground near the head of the tomb,” Ngoc said.
Hundreds of other tombs in the villages of An Bang, Thuy Yen Thon, Thuy Yen Thuong, and Nam Phuoc in Loc Thuy Commune were also filled with nails of the same size.
Chairman of the Loc Thuy Commune People’s Committee Nguyen Van Huu said on Tuesday that after receiving reports from residents the local administration had reported the case to district authorities and police for investigation.
