Northern Vietnam is expected to be hit by a cold front this week, which will bring low temperature and rainfall to the region.
The cold snap is closing in on provinces in the north, the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting reported, adding that its effect can be felt from Wednesday afternoon.
The average lows are forecast to be 14 to 17 degrees Celsius in the Red River Delta and from 10 to 13 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.
Temperature can drop to below nine degrees Celsius at higher altitudes.
The lowest temperature in Hanoi is expected to drop from 21 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius.
Occasional showers will also cool down the atmosphere.
The weather patterns will impact north-central and central localities on Thursday.
Under the influence of the cold spell, rough seas and strong winds are forecast near the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern part of the East Vietnam Sea.
According to Hoang Phuc Lam, an official at the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the effect of the cold snap will not last long.
“It is anticipated to warm up on Saturday,” Phuc remarked.
