A 16-year-old female masseur stabbed a customer to death after he attacked her in the southern Vietnamese province of An Giang this week.
Police in My Thanh Ward, Long Xuyen City confirmed on Wednesday that they had apprehended Phuong Anh, 16, who works at a local massage parlor, to assist in their investigation.
According to the investigation, the incident happened on Tuesday evening, shortly after a 31-year-old man named H. arrived at the massage parlor.
H. initially agreed to pay Anh VND500,000 (US$21.6) for the massage, but ended up paying only half of the agreed-upon amount.
Following the session, Anh went to her motorbike and pulled out a knife, which she later claimed she only carried to cut fruit.
H., who appeared to be drunk, then rushed toward the girl with his belt attempting to hit her with it.
Anh stabbed H. in his torso during the confrontation, causing the man to collapse on the floor and die on the spot.
The incident was caught on CCTV installed inside the massage parlor.
According to the footage, several other employees were also present when the incident happened.
Officers in An Giang have examined the scene and confiscated the weapon, as well as collected statements from Anh and eyewitnesses.
The case has been transferred to the provincial Department of Police for further investigation.
