A cabbie of beCar, a Vietnamese-made ride-hailing app, has been accused of playing a pornographic video in his car and touching the thigh of a female passenger.

According to the report of the victim, C.N., she booked a car via the beCar app to travel from Tan Binh District to Binh Thanh District in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday.

A driver named P.Q.H. later arrived to pick her up.

During the journey, H. played a pornographic video and put it at a high volume.

When N. asked him to turn the video off, the driver started touching her thigh.

“I stopped him by grabbing his hand and started screaming. He then apologized to me and asked me if I wanted him to book another driver for me,” N. recalled the incident in her Facebook post.

“I was really terrified and had my phone ready to call my family members.”

She also posted a photo of the driver along with her post.

A representative of beGroup, the company that operates the beCar app, confirmed on Tuesday that the firm had carried out a working session with the driver after acknowledging the incident.

The ride began at 0:11 and ended at 0:29 on Monday.

“We decided to permanently lock the account of the driver. Our customer service unit has extended our apology to the passenger and she agreed with our solution,” the representative said.

The company will also ask police to verify the case.
