Police of the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh on Saturday arrested and took legal proceedings against a man on charges of murder after he had set fire to his house, causing his wife to suffer severe burns.

The incident took place a week earlier when local authorities received news about a burning house in Van Don District, with N.T.H., wife of 40-year-old Ngo Quang Doan, was stuck inside.

The woman later found her way out and was rushed to Van Don District’s medical center, with burn injuries affecting 70 percent of her body.

According to preliminary investigation, Doan, who resides in the district, burned down his house, which resulted in serious injuries to his wife.

On December 3, Doan was having a drink at a local eatery when his wife called him on the phone to complain about his drinking party and asked him to go home.

Doan headed home in a rage and picked quarrels with his wife.

As the conflict intensified, he grabbed a 10-liter plastic container to buy petrol at a fuel station nearby and came back to set the fire.

Quang Ninh’s police are working on completing the case proceedings.
