A 92-year-old woman from the northern Vietnamese province of Hai Duong has tested positive for the novel coronavirus after coming into close contact with a COVID-19 patient.
She was among the seven people who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Hai Duong on Sunday, according to the provincial steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control.
They reside in Tuan Viet, Kim Lien, and Ngu Phuc Communes and Phu Thai Town, located in Kim Thanh District.
The elderly woman – Ta Thi B. – is the oldest person in Hai Duong to test positive for the novel coronavirus.
She previously had direct contact with a COVID-19 patient who is a factory worker in Cam Giang District and was brought to a quarantine center on February 8.
Following her test result, B. was taken to a medical center in Kim Thanh District and is currently in stable health conditions.
Authorities in Kim Thanh District have asked all residents who go to work in Cam Giang District to stay home until further notice.
Vietnam has documented 2,229 COVID-19 cases as of Monday morning, with 1,534 recoveries and 35 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.
