Vietnam documented more than 1,800 domestic COVID-19 cases last week as it has battled the pathogen’s re-emergence since late last month.

Most of the patients were detected at industrial parks in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh Province, located in northern Vietnam.
The Southeast Asian country has recorded 4,096 domestic transmissions in 34 provinces and cities since April 27, when it found the first case after having gone about a month without any known infection in the community.
Bac Giang is leading the caseload with 2,161 patients, followed by Bac Ninh with 804, Hanoi with 399, Ho Chi Minh City with 157, and Da Nang with 156.
Ho Chi Minh City reinstated an extensive social distancing order on Monday as the virus has spread quickly and widely in the past few days.
Non-essential businesses have been suspended while transportation to and from the city have been restricted.
Most of its cases have been traced to Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation based in Go Vap District, which is largely isolated now.
