A man in Hanoi has been sentenced to death for murdering his girlfriend after the victim insisted on breaking up with him.

The municipal People’s Court imposed the capital punishment upon Le Van Chung, 39, during a trial on Thursday afternoon.

The indictment showed that Chung has a wife and children, but the couple chose to separate due to some conflicts.

In 2019, Chung started a romantic relationship with D.T.T.B., a 39-year-old divorced mother of three.

Chung, B., and her children moved in together at a tenanted house on Quan Hoa Street in Cau Giay District in August 2020.

They also opened a spa at the location.

B. later caught Chung having an affair with another woman and insisted on breaking up with him despite the man’s plea for forgiveness.

Chung became upset and stabbed his girlfriend to death before stabbing himself on the night of October 17.

The two were rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment after one of B.’s children discovered the incident.

Chung was arrested for murder on October 30.
