Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), Ho Chi Minh City’s water supplier, will cut or reduce its service in 13 districts in the southern metropolis and several wards in Thu Duc City between Saturday evening and Sunday morning for system maintenance and pipeline troubleshooting.
The maintenance and troubleshooting will take place between 9:00 pm on Saturday and 5:00 am on Sunday, during which pumps to the entirety of District 1, District 3, District 5, District 10, and Phu Nhuan District will be completely closed, the company said.
Meanwhile, Wards 1, 2, 3, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25 in Binh Thanh District; Wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 12 in Tan Binh District; Wards 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 in District 4; Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12 in District 6; Wards 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 in District 8; and Wards 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 in District 11 will also see their water off.
In Thu Duc City, An Phu, Thao Dien, Binh An, An Khanh, Binh Khanh, Thanh My Loi, An Loi Dong, Cat Lai, Binh Trung Dong, Binh Trung Tay, Thu Thiem, Linh Xuan, Linh Trung, Tam Binh, Linh Chieu, Linh West, Linh Dong, Truong Tho, Hiep Phu, Long Binh, Long Phuoc, Long Thanh My, Long Truong, Phu Huu, Phuoc Long A, Tan Phu, Tang Nhon Phu A, Tang Nhon Phu B, and Truong Thanh Wards will be subject to the water supply disruption.
Meanwhile, Binh Hung and Phong Phu Wards in Binh Chanh District and Ward 2 in Tan Binh District will experience low water pressure.
According to Sawaco, although the water service disruption would cover about 50 percent of the city's wards, almost the entire city should expect a knock-on effect.
After the completion of the maintenance work, it is likely that the return of water supply in some places far from the sources will be later than 5:00 am on Sunday.
Sawaco said the firm will arrange tank trucks to ensure water supply for hospitals and recommended that people store extra water in advance for use during the period.
