-- Police in northwestern Dien Bien Province on Friday uncovered more than 3,000 opium poppy plants illicitly grown on a plot of agricultural land. 

-- The Ha Noi People's Committee approved on Friday the municipal Department of Education and Training's proposal to temporarily halt the plan to reintroduce offline schooling to students in grades 1 to 6 in 12 urban districts.

-- The People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City has commenced legal proceedings against a former reporter of Vietnamese newspaper Phap Luat TPHCM (Ho Chi Minh City Law), Nguyen Hoai Nam, for abusing rights to freedom and democracy to infringe upon the interests of the state.

-- Police in the Mekong Delta Province of Tien Giang on Friday arrested a suspect accused of robbing a bank branch in the city two days ago.

-- Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has initiated legal proceedings against the former chairman and general director of Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation for ‘violating regulations on state asset management and use, causing losses and wastefulness’.

-- Nine passengers were missing after a blaze engulfed a ferry sailing from Greece to Italy early on Friday and firefighters battled to rescue people trapped on the ship, Reuters reported.
