Ho Chi Minh City to hold fireworks displays at 15 venues to ring in Lunar New Year

Ho Chi Minh City will have fireworks at 15 venues to usher in the 2025 Lunar New Year, including two high-altitude fireworks displays and 13 low-altitude pyrotechnic shows. 

The fireworks will be set off for 15 minutes from 0:00 to 0:15 on January 29, the first day of the 2025 Lunar New Year.

The city will organize high-altitude fireworks shows at two sites -- Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City and Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District.

Meanwhile, low-altitude fireworks will light up the sky over 13 locations, including Thao Dien Urban Area and an area along the Saigon River which is 500 meters away from the Rach Chiec Bridge in Thu Duc City; the Rach Dia Bridge in Nha Be District; Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11; the Ben Noc Memorial Temple in Thu Duc City; the memorial area of the 1968 Tet Offensive in Binh Chanh District; and Tay Bac Cu Chi Industrial Park in Cu Chi District; 

Other locations include Rung Sac Square in Can Gio District; the administrative center square of District 7; the park of a 38-hectare residential area in Tan Thoi Nhat Ward, District 12; Hoa Binh Square in Go Vap District; the Nga Ba Giong Historical Site in Hoc Mon District; and the Binh Dien Market area in District 8.

Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports announced plans to celebrate the Tet holiday in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025.

The city will hold activities to welcome Lunar New Year’s Eve from 20:00 on January 28 to 0:30 on January 29.

The activities consist of a 3D light show on the façade of the office building of the municipal People's Committee on the evening of January 28, followed by a fireworks show from midnight to 0:15 on January 29.

The celebrations will also include a spring-themed exhibition at Lam Son Park and nearby streets in District 1 from January 25 to February 9.

A Tet flower market will open in District 8 from January 14 to 28.

Another Tet flower festival and a flower market will take place from January 26 to February 2 at Tao Dan Park, along with Nguyen Hue Flower Street, a book festival, and cultural performances.

The southern city will also hold the ‘Banh Tet Festival’ on January 21-22 at the National Cultural and Historical Park in Thu Duc City, with traditional offerings to the Hung Kings, considered Vietnam's founding fathers, and other historical figures on January 24.

Banh tet is a cylindrical glutinous rice roll whose main ingredients are glutinous rice, beans, and dried coconut.

Other activities include reunions for overseas Vietnamese, diplomatic meetings, and tributes at cemeteries and monuments to commemorate late leaders Ho Chi Minh and Ton Duc Thang.
