Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a labor migration partnership, opening up new opportunities for Vietnamese workers in the Nordic country.

The MoU is expected to promote the dispatch of Vietnamese experts, skilled workers, and seasonal workers to Finland.

The agreement was signed during a visit by a delegation of Finland’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment led by Minister Arto Olavi Satonen.

His visit is scheduled until Wednesday and is expected to offer working opportunities for Vietnamese laborers in the fields of technology, industry, and healthcare.

During talks with his counterpart Arto Olavi Satonen, Vietnamese Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung expressed satisfaction with the growing relationship between the two nations.

He highlighted the number of Vietnamese workers seeking jobs overseas, at nearly 160,000 annually.

At present, around 700,000 Vietnamese workers are employed in over 40 countries and territories.

Minister Dung said, "Vietnamese workers are highly regarded internationally for their youth, diligence, and intelligence."

Since late 2023, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has approved the applications of three Vietnamese companies to supply 134 laborers, including 65 females, to Finland.

Minister Dung also confirmed that up to 55 Vietnamese laborers currently earn incomes of 1,500-2,000 euros (US$1,539-2,052) per month, plus good working conditions and social welfare, in the Nordic country.

Minister Arto Olavi Satonen said Finland wants to enhance the cooperation between the two countries to connect enterprises and international experts.

He emphasized Finland's commitment to providing high-quality living standards and diverse employment opportunities for international workers.

Laura Lindeman, senior director of Work in Finland, is optimistic about attracting Vietnamese talent to Finland, saying that Work in Finland will provide numerous opportunities for skilled and knowledgeable laborers.
