One died and seven were injured in a fire that broke out at a rented house in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi on Thursday evening, according to local firefighters.
The fire erupted on the ground floor of a seven-story rented house down alley No. 60 on Phu Do Street in Nam Tu Liem District at around 7:00 pm on the day, generating smoke and toxic gases, according to firefighters.
“Rescuers made great efforts to save seven or eight people, including children, from the flames,” a leader from the local firefighting unit said at the scene.
“We’re actively examining the scene.
“We will have a quick report on this fire shortly after.”
One death was reported, while the total cost of the damage is still being calculated.

“When I realized the house was on fire, I only had time to find a towel and soak it in water and then ran to the balcony,” said Viet, a renter.
“But the neighbor opposite the house told me to run upstairs, where there was an exit.
“Three other people also climbed up there with me.
“After climbing to the roof of the neighbor’s house, we all waited for rescuers to show up.”
Functional forces are investigating the cause of the conflagration.
