The Ministry of Transport has submitted the first phase investment plan, estimated at over VND8.36 trillion (US$364 million), for the construction of the Dau Giay-Tan Phu expressway under the public-private partnership (PPP) model to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for consideration and approval.
The project is planned to stretch about 60.1 kilometers, starting at the intersection with National Highway 1, which coincides with the ending point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, and ending at a connecting point with the Tan Phu - Bao Loc expressway project through southern Dong Nai Province’s districts of Thong Nhat, Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc, and Tan Phu.
The new expressway is designed to have four lanes for vehicles, on a 24.75-meter-wide road surface upon completion.
However, based on transport demand and the ability to balance resources, the Ministry of Transport proposed the road surface be scaled down to 17 meters wide in the first phase while the number of lanes is unchanged, with total investment capital of VND8.36 trillion for the first phase, including VND7 trillion ($307 million) mobilized from private sectors and VND1.3 trillion ($57 million) from the state budget for site clearance and construction costs.
The payback period is estimated to be 20 years and three months.
It is expected that the project will be started in 2023 and be completed in 2025.
