Two nine-year-old children drowned while bathing in a stream in Da Huoai District in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on Thursday morning.

The People’s Committee of Madaguoi Commune in Da Huoai confirmed the deadly incident later that day.

P.H.H. and K.N., both nine years old, visited a a local stream to bathe at 10:00 am after H.’s parents sent them to N.’s house earlier the same day.

While bathing, both children were drawn into a deep water area and drowned.

Local people discovered the incident, quickly took the two children ashore and gave them first aid, but could not save them.

Both children were third-grade students and taking a summer break.

Previous drowning cases in the same stream, all of which happened during summer, led to five child fatalities, according to local authorities.
