Zoos and theme parks in Ho Chi Minh City were filled with visitors over the weekend.

Visitors abounded at leisure places around the city, such as the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens in District 1, Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, and Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City, as many families looked to let their children have outdoor fun during the summer holiday.

The crowds consisted of Ho Chi Minh City residents and people from areas that provide convenient travel to and from the southern metropolis within a day.

At the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, long queues at ticket booths and crowds at different sections made the atmosphere stuffy at times, causing many visitors to feel tired and unpleasant.

Some of them set up tarpaulin mats and tents during lunchtime.

The crowded state made the weekend trip tiring for many families, especially those with young children.

Notably, Dam Sen Cultural Park welcomed more than 10,000 visitors a day on average, according to a spokesperson.

The number was estimated to double on Sunday, which is often the most crowded day at this popular entertainment site.

Its water park was filled to capacity and even overcrowded at times.

Previously, many visitors complained about the crowding and the shortage of facilities at Dam Sen Water Park.
