Police in An Giang Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, are further investigating a case in which three teenagers robbed a peer of an electric bicycle with a knife in Long Xuyen City.

Tran Van Luc, 16, Nguyen Hoai Thanh, 14, and Luong Hoang Phuc, 13 – all living in Long Xuyen – used a knife to threaten and take the e-bike of L.N.M.Q, 13, while Q. was riding it on a street in the city’s My Binh Ward at around 5:20 pm on Wednesday, police said on Friday.

Q.’s 47-year-old father Le Van Nghi reported the robbery to the My Binh police station about two hours later.

Police officers quickly investigated the case and determined Luc, Thanh, and Phuc as the robbers, as well as confiscated the robbed bike, which Nghi said was worth VND4 million (US$167).

After being detained by police officers, the trio admitted to the crime, adding that they had sold the bike for VND700,000 ($29).

While police in Long Xuyen City issued an arrest warrant for Luc due to his involvement in four other robberies, Thanh and Phuc were allowed to be bailed out by their families.

Police also initiated legal proceedings against Luc and banned him from leaving his residence.
