A man from Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province in southern Vietnam was arrested for driving a car under the influence of crystal meth.
The Department of Public Security in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province confirmed on Tuesday they had arrested and initiated legal proceedings against Nguyen Duy Tung, 38, on charges of disrupting public order.
Preliminary information showed that Tung showed signs of being high on crystal meth as he was driving an automobile along local streets early on Sunday morning, posing dangers for other commuters.
The car was traveling in an abnormal manner and repeatedly violated traffic regulations such as running in the wrong lane and disobeying the directions of traffic lights, according to eyewitnesses.
No one was harmed as there were not many vehicles on the streets at that time.
The driver seat’s door was not closed, and the vehicle was dented and scratched.
CCTV footage later revealed that Tung had driven his car around the premises of a port in Vung Tau at about 3:30 am the same day.
Tung was turning the music very loud and screaming inside his vehicle.
The automobile also crashed into a barrier inside the port.
After receiving reports from local residents, police officers hunted down the vehicle and arrested Tung.
The driver later tested positive for narcotics.
Records showed that Tung was a drug addict and previously went to compulsory rehabilitation.
