Nearly 5,000 people took part in a counter-terrorism, riot and demonstration exercise in Thu Duc City, a district-level unit under Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday morning.

The municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee and the Ministry of Public Security earlier assigned the municipal police to coordinate with relevant agencies to organize the drill.

The event, held at a resettlement area at 26 Mai Chi Tho Boulevard, featured scenarios for ensuring security and social order, rescuing victims, and fighting fires in high-rise buildings.

The drill also included martial arts and Qi Gong performances as well as a parade of special-use vehicles and the cavalry force from Ho Chi Minh police and the Mobile Police High Command under the Ministry of Public Security.
