The military command in Tra Vinh Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, confirmed on Tuesday they handled a 112-kilogram bomb that was previously found at a local shrimp pond.
The bomb was discovered by 47-year-old Le Van Tuan as he was renovating his shrimp pond in Dong Hai Commune, Duyen Hai District.
Tuan immediately reported the case to the military command in Duyen Hai District.
The bomb weighed 112 kilograms and still had the detonator.
Military officers were then tasked with removing the bomb from the shrimp pond and handling it in accordance with protocols.

The Tra Vinh Military Command confirmed it had dealt with a total of three wartime bombs since the beginning of October.
Aside from the bomb found at Tuan’s shrimp pond, the other two were excavated by some residents during the construction of a house in Long Huu Commune, Duyen Hai Town.
Local authorities later sealed off the area to ensure safety for residents before military officers dealt with the bombs.
