A 22-year-old woman who recently returned to Vietnam accused two people of selling her to China seven years ago.

Police in Ky Son District, located in north-central Nghe An Province, confirmed on Monday they had arrested and initiated legal proceedings against Moong Thi Nang, 28, and Ven Van Tuan, 37, on charges of child trafficking.

The victim is C.T.Q., 22, from Bao Nam Commune, Ky Son District.

In May 2015, Nang and Tuan tricked Q., who was 15 years old at the time, and sold her to China for VND180 million (US$7,200), according to preliminary information.

After spending more than seven years in China, Q. managed to escape and return to Vietnam in mid-November.

The victim later reported her case to local authorities and accused Nang and Tuan of selling her to China.

Police in Ky Son District conducted necessary verification and gathered enough proof to arrest the two suspects on charges of child trafficking.
