The Vietnamese military has transported 30 metric tons of supplies and equipment to Turkey to help the country in the aftermath of deadly earthquakes last week.
Under the direction of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Logistics prepared 30 metric tons of materials and equipment on Sunday that will be used by officers under the Vietnam People's Army during their search and rescue efforts in Turkey.
The materials include 10 metric tons of dry food, 13.5 metric tons of food, 1.3 metric tons of maintenance tools, 2.2 metric tons of medical equipment and medicines, and three metric tons of barracks supplies.
The supplies were gathered at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi before being transported to Turkey on a cargo plane.
The Vietnam People's Army was scheduled to dispatch a delegation of 76 people to Turkey on Sunday evening.
This delegation includes 30 military medics, a 30-member rescue team, nine trainers and their six sniffer dogs, and a seven-member commanding unit.
Major General Pham Van Ty, deputy head of the Department of Rescue under the Vietnam People's Army, was charged with leading this delegation.
The Ministry of Public Security previously sent 24 officers to Turkey to aid the local search and rescue efforts following the deadly quakes.
The team reached the southeastern Turkish city of Adiyaman on Saturday morning, one day after they touched down at Istanbul International Airport along with 15 tons of rescue equipment.
As of Sunday, the death toll of the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6 topped 33,000.
