Party General Secretary To Lam affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to share its agricultural development experience with Malaysia and called on Malaysia to support Vietnam in developing its Halal industry during his meeting with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Rural and Regional Development, and President of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
The Vietnamese Party chief met with the UMNO leader and senior leaders of Malaysia’s ruling coalition during his official visit to Malaysia from Thursday to Saturday this week.
Underscoring the friendship between the UMNO and the Communist Party of Vietnam, the UMNO leader commended Vietnam’s socioeconomic achievements, calling them a source of pride for ASEAN.
He expressed confidence that, under the Vietnamese Communist Party's leadership, headed by Party chief Lam, Vietnam would achieve its developmental goals and usher in a new era of progress.

Lam congratulated Malaysia on its achievements under the Unity Government and expressed optimism about Malaysia’s potential to become one of Asia’s leading economies and rank among the world’s top 30 within the next decade.
Lam urged Malaysia to facilitate greater market access for Vietnamese processed agricultural products, seafood, and food items.
He reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to ensuring a stable rice supply for Malaysia, sharing its expertise in agricultural development, including food and coffee production.
He also encouraged Malaysia to support Vietnam’s Halal sector and promote investment in this industry.
Emphasizing the importance of education and training as strategic breakthroughs, the top Vietnamese official proposed increased cooperation in higher education, postgraduate training, and leadership development.
Both leaders agreed to bolster youth and women leadership exchanges, enhance collaboration on multilateral platforms, and work together to build a stronger ASEAN community.
The Deputy PM of Malaysia expressed a desire to deepen bilateral ties ahead of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

On the same day, Lam visited Malaysia’s national oil and gas company Petronas.
Lam commended Petronas for its achievements as well as its cooperation outcomes with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group over the past three decades.
He urged Petronas to align its investment and business strategies in Vietnam with the recently established comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
He also called for increased collaboration in emerging energy fields.
President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petronas Yang Mulia Tan Sri Tengku Muhammand Taufik highlighted opportunities for cooperation in oil and gas and renewable energy.
He affirmed Petronas’ commitment to promoting collaboration in energy and key projects, contributing to ensuring energy security and shared prosperity.
