A 52-seater coach carrying nine foreigners and one Vietnamese on Sunday morning nearly fell into an abyss on National Highway 27C in Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam.
No one was injured.
A leader of the People’s Committee of Khanh Vinh District said at about 6:40 am, the coach with the number plate 92F-00306 driven by Pham Dinh Nghia, 53, residing in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam was running from Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province to Da Lat City of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.
The driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to nearly plunge into an abyss along the roadside.
It stopped promptly so no passenger was injured. Passengers smashed the glass windows of the coach to flee from it.
The vehicle had its front and doors damaged.
The crash also broke electric wires, forcing the local power agencies to suspend the power supply to the western area of Khanh Vinh District to ensure safety.
According to the Khanh Vinh People’s Committee, National Highway 27C is over 120 kilometers long, connecting Nha Trang and Da Lat, two well-known tourist destinations in Vietnam.
Along the route, there are many hills, sharp bends, cliffs, and abysses, thus posing a high risk of traffic accidents.
