A yellow monkey has been found at the V1 security booth near the security fence of Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on last Tuesday and Saturday, threatening aviation safety, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
The CAAV has written to the airport authority asking it to take measures to prevent the monkey from entering the flight area.
In case the monkey enters the flight area, it will threaten the safety for operation at the airport, according to the CAAV.
Therefore, the CAAV asked the airport authority to regularly monitor surveillance cameras and strengthen inspections in the area where the monkey appeared.
Moreover, the airport was assigned to work out a plan to prevent monkeys and other wild animals from entering the runway area.
The CAAV also requested the Hanoi Forest Protection Department to direct its subordinates to coordinate with the Northern Airports Authority and Noi Bai International Airport authority to handle the appearance of monkeys at the security fence of the airport.
They should also instruct agencies and units at the airport to come up with specific plans to deal with rare and endangered animals near the airport.
A representative of Noi Bai International Airport said that the origin of the monkey remains unknown as no families near the airport raise monkeys.
Leaders of the Noi Bai International Airport have asked the People’s Committee of Soc Son District, Hanoi, where the airport is nestled, to catch and prevent monkeys from entering the airport.
