Fire engulfs motorboats at yard near Ho Chi Minh City river

A fire broke out at a yard for motorboats along the Saigon River in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday afternoon, burning many of the vessels.
The flames erupted at 1:45 pm on the day and were accompanied by explosions.
Local efforts to put out the blaze failed but some employees of a nearby motorboat repair shop managed to take some vessels out of the fire using a crane truck.

Firefighters arrived shortly after and took water from the Saigon River to extinguish the blaze.
It is estimated that at least 10 motorboats were burned down.

According to local people, the yard is used to store damaged motorboats requiring repair.
Officials are calculating damage from the fire and investigating the cause.
