Vietnam’s Ca Mau to host first-ever shrimp festival in mid-2023

Ca Mau, the southernmost province in Vietnam, will organize a shrimp festival for the first time in early June this year, which will incorporate multiple activities such as forums, seminars, exhibitions, and cooking contests featuring a myriad of shrimp dishes.
The shrimp festival is the largest and most anticipated event under the province’s 'Ca Mau-Destination 2023' program to promote local tourism.
The provincial tourism authority is rolling up its sleeves for the launch of the program, said Tran Hieu Hung, director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Ca Mau.
Aside from the shrimp festival, the southern province will host a hot-air balloon fest and a southern-style traditional sweet food festival.
The previous edition of the program last year attracted more than 159,000 tourist arrivals, generating over VND108 billion (US$4.6 million) in tourism revenue for the province.
Ca Mau leads the nation in shrimp farming area, at roughly 276,000 hectares with an annual output of over 220,000 metric tons.
