-- Four people have died and nine others have been injured in an avalanche southwest of Mont Blanc in the French Alps, Reuters quoted interior minister Gerald Darmanin as saying on Sunday.

-- Eight people are not responding to calls and are thought to be under the rubble of two buildings that collapsed in an explosion early on Sunday in the southern French city of Marseille, Reuters quoted local officials as saying.
