-- More than VND236 trillion (US$10 billion) had been mobilized for COVID-19 prevention and control as of the end of last year, the Vietnam News Agency quoteda report by a National Assembly supervisory delegation.

-- The northern province of Quang Ninh topped Vietnam’s Provincial Competitiveness Index 2022 for the sixth consecutive year. Hanoi ranked 20th and Ho Chi Minh City placed 27th, according to a report released on Tuesday by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has required Greenlines DP Technology Co. Ltd. to stop exploiting the inland waterway port at the Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 after the municipal People’s Committee rejected the department’s proposal for the further exploitation of the second quay at the wharf.

-- Vietnam’s largest private beverage producer Tan Hiep Phat Group has named David Riddle, who is from the UK, as its new CEO, following the arrest of the firm’s founder Tran Qui Thanh and deputy CEO Tran Uyen Phuong as well as charges against Tran Ngoc Bich, who is also a deputy CEO of Tan Hiep Phat.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment has proposed building a road leading to a waste-to-energy project in outlying Cu Chi District at a cost of over VND760 billion ($32.6 million).

-- Binh Phuoc Province in southern Vietnam will develop a military airfield in Hon Quan District into a specialized airport covering some 350 hectares of land.

-- The 12th Conference on Decentralized Cooperation between France and Vietnam will take place in Hanoi from Thursday to Sunday with the participation of 50 localities in Vietnam and 12 localities from France.

-- South Korea's antitrust regulator has fined Alphabet Inc's Google 42.1 billion won ($31.88 million) for blocking the release of mobile video games on a competitor's platform, according to Reuters.

-- Chile's Congress on Tuesday passed a hard-fought bill to gradually cut the work week to 40 hours from 45 hours, a legislative victory for President Gabriel Boric amid faltering popularity, Reuters reported.
