Nearly 3,000 people injured in holiday traffic in Vietnam

Nearly 3,000 people injured in holiday traffic in Vietnam

Up to 2,984 people sought treatment at medical facilities across Vietnam and 19 died due to traffic accidents over the 24 hours from Saturday to Sunday, according to the Department of Medical Service Administration under the Ministry of Health.

Laborers in Vietnam are enjoying their holiday celebrating Hung Kings Commemoration Day on April 29, Reunification Day on April 30, and International Workers’ Day on May 1.

Based on the reports from medical facilities and health departments across the country’s 63 provinces and cities to the Department of Medical Service Administration, the total number of individuals who received general medical check-ups and emergency treatment from 7:00 am on Saturday to 7:00 am on Sunday was 59,664. 

Out of that figure, 22,149 people were admitted for inpatient treatment.

As of 7:00 am on Sunday, there were 177,753 patients undergoing medical treatment in hospitals throughout the country.

Between Saturday and Sunday, 2,984 people visited hospitals due to traffic accidents, with 1,437 of them requiring hospitalization, out of which 43 cases are serious and critical.

The death toll caused by traffic accidents reached 19, including one driver of a long-haul bus which was involved in a traffic accident on Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway on Saturday, resulting in the injuries of seven Vietnamese and nine foreign passengers.
