-- Ho Chi Minh City Party chief Nguyen Van Nen received a high-ranking delegation from Cuba led by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of Cuba’s Communist Party Central Committee, on Monday.

-- A pile-up occurred on Bao Loc Mountain Pass in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong Province, where Da Lat City, a popular tourist destination, is located, on Monday afternoon, leaving two motorcyclists injured and causing a massive traffic jam.

Tourism

-- Ly Son Island District in the central province of Quang Ngai hosted the Tu Linh (Four Sacred Animals)-Ly Son boat race festival on the occasion of the five-day holiday of Hung Kings Commemoration Day on April 29, Reunification Day on April 30, and International Workers’ Day on May 1 to promote tourism in 2023, attracting thousands of visitors.

-- There was an upsurge in the number of Vietnamese travelers to Cambodia during the ongoing five-day holiday break lasting from April 29 to May 3.

-- Ho Chi Minh City chairman Phan Van Mai on Sunday greeted visitors to the 114-year-old City Hall, which opened its doors to the public for the first time during the five-day public holiday. After two days, the building of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 1,500 domestic and foreign guests.

-- The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi welcomed more than 52,000 visitors from April 29 to May 1 during the five-day holiday break.

-- Nearly 200 local and international businesses will participate in the 19th Saigon International Autotech & Accessories Show (Saigon Autotech & Accessories), which will be hosted by Ho Chi Minh City from May 18 to 21.

World

-- The United States will end its COVID-19 vaccination requirements for international travelers and federal workers on May 11, when the coronavirus public health emergency ends, the White House said on Monday.
