-- Investigators in Ho Chi Minh City have proposed that Nguyen Minh Quan, ex-director of Thu Duc City Hospital, and two police officers be indicted for their alleged wrongdoings in a COVID-19 test kit scandal that was uncovered in late 2021.

-- A nearly-two-hour downpour on Wednesday afternoon in Bien Hoa City, southern Dong Nai Province left multiple inner-city streets and schools inundated, causing commuters to struggle to get around.

-- The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on Wednesday afternoon hosted a ceremony to welcome the Akademik Oparin research vessel of the Russian Academy of Sciences that arrived in south-central Khanh Hoa Province to carry out a joint scientific survey in the East Vietnam Sea.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum and Trade Fair 2023 will take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center from May 25 to 28, the Vietnam News Agency cited the municipal Department of Industry and Trade as announcing at a press conference on Wednesday.

-- Vietnam exported close to 51,400 metric tons of cashew nuts worth over US$305 million last month, the highest since October 2021, according to data released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

-- Around 22,400 cars were sold in Vietnam last month, falling by some 7,620 units or 25 percent month on month, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

-- Montana Governor Greg Gianforte on Wednesday signed legislation to ban the Chinese-owned TikTok from operating in the state, making it the first U.S. state to ban the popular short video app, Reuters reported.
