A tornado ripped into a hamlet in Bac Lieu Province, located in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, on Friday afternoon, blowing off the roofs of three houses and demolishing another, according to the provincial steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control.
The tornado hit Ba Men A hamlet in An Trach A Commune, Dong Hai District at around 3:00 pm when it was about to rain, packing strong winds, the steering committee said on Saturday.
Consequently, the twister blew off the roofs of the three houses, whose owners are Nguyen Van Map, Nguyen Van Choi, and Nguyen Thi Bu, and destroyed one house made of leaves of Nguyen Trung Chanh.
Local competent forces were assisting affected households with coping with the aftermath of the tornado, the steering committee said.
The tornado touching down the area did not take a heavy toll on local people and their properties, but grabbed attention of netizens on social media platforms as it is considered a rare phenomenon in the delta.
